Excerpt from Young Men's Mutual Improvement Associations Manual, 1898-9: The Apostolic AgeDear brethren: We heartily congratulate you on the great revival of interest in Mutual Improvement work during the past season, and especially on the thorough and efficient work done by you on the course of study outlined in the Manual for 1897-8. We feel that our anticipations in these respects have been realized. The Wisdom of limiting the work to one main subject, and making that subject the life OF jesus, has been fully vindicated. We feel most grateful to you for' the earnest and faithful labors you have performed in thus advancing the great work of Mutual Improvement. In presenting to you the Manual for 1898-9, we have been mindful of the success you have achieved in the study of the preceding one, and have therefore determined to prescribe but one main subject for your study. There was only one Opinion. In the committee meeting as to what that subject should be. Our unanimous choice, after due consideration, was the. Apostolic age. Following, as it does, the brief period of Christ's ministry, and taking up the work where He laid it down, it seemed to us the logical subject to follow the narrative of His life and labor. Like the course of study you have already taken, it affords ample Opportunity for cultivating an understanding of the principles of the Gospel. Herein consists one of its great values.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
