If God wants a relationship with us then why is he so distant? If God loves his creation then why is there so much pain? If God is good then why does he plan to consign people to hell?
We give ourselves to God and then struggle profoundly with the relationship. But instead of embracing our doubts and confusion we often deny them to ourselves and others. Sometimes we make things worse either by feeling guilty about our struggles or by dismissing them as unimportant or insignificant. We may choose to live on the surface of faith, or become resentful that God does not simply step in to clear up the confusion.
