We live in an information age, there's so much of it all buzzing around our heads. Information pours out of our TVs, our phones, our PCs, laptops and tablet devices. It resonates from the radio and gets pushed out to us via apps that link us to social media as well as still appearing through our front doors in the form of newspapers, magazines and leaflets. We're surrounded by it and yet, somehow in the midst of this rich information environment, we miss the essentials and sometimes need reminding of them all over again. Sadly more information does not mean deeper knowledge. Quantity does not automatically lead to quality. This is why I'm creating this 'Essentials' range of books. It is nearly thirty five years ago now since I picked up the Bible as a young teenager and read all fifty chapters of Genesis in one go. I had the bug to study the book and so began my systematic reading taking me from one end of the book to the other, over and over again. The more I read the more I was amazed at how the book flowed together as a beautiful and single unity. I soon came to realise that the interconnections in the book were the key to unravelling the flow of the Bible's doctrine. Truth was presented again and again across the different books and the writers of the Bible themselves clearly demonstrated how this was displayed and how to access it. So I pursued this for many years and I still continue that same reading today. On my doorstep, during my teenage years, appeared some Jehovah's Witnesses. We had some very interesting conversations and, even though I was still young, I held my own with them. It was only recently, however, that a Jehovah's Witness admitted to me on my doorstep that he could not answer any of my doctrinal arguments that proved that Jesus is God. He said he'd never come across them from any Christian and that he could not undo those arguments. I had wanted to write books years ago but somehow it was not the right time. This conversation has been one of the triggers to tell me that it is now time to write this and other doctrine books. It is my sincere hope that this book not only arms you with arguments that are sound and true but that you are also edified and strengthen in your faith.
