Jinju Shin recounts a story about a Korean girl Nami growing up in the 1960s and immigrating from Korea to America with her family. Through her journey, you can experience her struggles of adapting to the new American culture while unable to leave behind her innate Korean culture she was raised in. As Nami becomes an adult, she tries to gain her independence from her overprotective parents and has a late rebellion where she makes her own decisions on marriage and career. Through bittersweet learning experiences she realizes the good intentions her parents always had for her. Yet, she struggles from having to accept her past and forgive her parents from keeping deep inner secrets from her all her life. Will she forgive her parents, give up her entire life and return home to Korea to take care for her aging parents as expected by everyone?
