Tommy knows he loves Sarah, but was taught by the men in his family to put notches in his belt. He thought women were only sex objects until no matter what he did, worked. It was as if his life was just an illusion. He started feeling that he was living a vain and empty life, so he asked his mother, "What am I suppose to do in my relationship with Sarah?" Tommy's mother handed him something to read that changed his view about why God created women and put men in position as the head of the family.
