"What Haunts Us" is the 2020 Winner of the Midwest Book Award for Fiction - Fantasy/SciFi/Horror/Paranormal! Loren Niemi has been captivating audiences for more than forty years. This award-winning story collection is an evocative compendium of stories he has performed on many stages, along with new explorations of the mysteries which arise at the intersection of the ordinary, flicker in the imagination, and dwell in memory."What Haunts Us" are those things that we hold in place in memory or feelings; people. places, actions, philosophies and beliefs, or emotions themselves. Loren Niemi has lived with some of these stories for decades, and giving them the form they deserve to have became inevitable. This collection goes from the reworking of oral histories (as collected stories about ghosts) that have a nod to testimony and exploring ways we make the intangible present; all the way to the last one - the Count St. Germain - which is about the way that grief haunts even immortals.
