Have you ever been kidnapped and forced to drive your car for the kidnapper? I have, but before I get to that, I'd like to tell you about what brought me there and healed my relationship with my father. I grew up in a disadvantaged neighborhood in Albuquerque. My father went from being a drug dealer and drug addict to being a minister in the same community. My relationship with my father was tumultuous, and after his untimely death, I really struggled to grieve his loss. Several years later, I became homeless and was sleeping in a '68 VW bus in Albuquerque. One night, a crazed stranger pushed himself into my car, forcing me on an unexpected journey that profoundly changed me. Hours after being kidnapped, I finally convinced the man to leave my vehicle. Shaken and upset, that experience made me face my personal demons and inspired the true-life story of "Tramp." Which led to my personal healing and celebration of my fathers life.
