A young family's world is turned upside down when the wife/mother of four young kids dies suddenly in the middle of the night, leaving the grieving father of four in shatters. This book describes their journey of regaining their lives after losing the biggest part of their world, and what they had to do in order to learn to cope with such a massive loss.
Written by the dad, Steve Brown, and special section written by one of the daughters Mary Cate, who was only 12 when her mother died, called "Through a Childs Eyes" describes what it's like to lose a mother at such a young.
Steve tells the story of what happened that night, and all of the things he had to learn very quickly to be able to raise the kids. He describes how unprepared he was for such a massive loss, and in a section called "The Do's and Don'ts" lists out all the things he wishes he had done differently ahead of time. There are also pointers on how to act around a bereaved person. This book is a valuable set of lessons learned and now shared, and can be applied to many other setbacks in life, such as a job loss, divorce, etc, and in his case, a death.
It's a quick read and one that you can refer back to quickly in time of need.
