Allies, Entitled, the Church of England Cleared From the Charge of Schism: Upon Testimonies and Councils of Fathers of the First Six CenturiesUpon this I Observe, in the first place, that to prove the English Church to be in schism - I say nothing at present of the Eastern, nor of the assumption which is made in identifying the two cases - it is not necessary to establish Bellarmine's doctrine, of the truth of which Mr. A. Demands to be furnished with proof, as though the charge could not be sustained upon any ground short of it. Catholic divines, who dissented from Bellarmine's proposition, were as strong in their condemnation of the Anglican Church as were any of their oppo nents and that upon a View of the unity and the constitution of the Church, which all were agreed in regarding as fundamental.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
