This book began as a dog story. Rob and Rich were talking, sharing stories about Bo, the smartest dog ever, as they frequently did. One of the brothers said, "You know, we should write these stories down. Someday, before too long, neither of us will be here and these stories will be lost, and Bo will be forgotten." The other brother remarked, "You're right. You should do that!" With that the writing began. After the brothers exhausted their memories of Bo, the sisters were asked to share things from their viewpoints. When asked for recollections about Bo, Mary exclaimed, "What about Jonny? What about Bill, and all the other animals?" Suddenly we had dog stories, horse stories, stories about other farm animals, but more importantly this expanded to stories about our family and how we grew up on an Ohio farm. We discovered we didn't know when our ancestors came to North America, so we began researching. What you're holding in your hands is the result of our collaboration and research.
We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we did putting it together.
