The Mask of Vega is the second story in a series which tells of the successors of the legendary hero, Diego Vega. This story takes place shortly after Shadow from the Stone and follows a boy, Carlos Galinda, from a dusty south Texas town to manhood in the American west. This adventure leads us to the tragic battle at the Alamo, to the burgeoning towns of Albuquerque and Santa Fe, and into the vast lands of the Navajo. Carlos grows from a mild adolescent into a courageous man of action. By accepting the mask of his ancestor he too becomes a legend.
