The House by the Ocean fantasy story explores the feelings and imagination of a woman who passionately awaits and prepares for a long-overdue visit from her lover. The story delves, detail-by-detail, into the workings of the mind of the woman as she anticipates his arrival and lovingly prepares herself for his coming. The cold, stormy setting outdoors sets the tone to contrast with the hot, turbulent passion that will follow indoors.
