The Schipperke was first imported to Great Britain in 1887. Over the next few years, several more Schipperkes were imported until the breed was well established there, and it became quite a popular breed in the country for some time to come... from the Princess of Wales to a dentist, from show dogs to pets.
Englishmen wrote about the breed's history, they wrote about what was happening in their country and in Belgium, they sketched the breed and the breed was captured in beautiful paintings. They even recorded them on collectible "cigarette cards".
