Albert Joseph Ondrish, Sr. grew up in rural Southwestern Pennsylvania. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country during the Korean War aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Valley Forge as an Electronics Technician. After four years in the Navy, he got a degree in electrical engineering in three years from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and had a long career ending as a Division Director at Vitro; a company that contracted work for the military. He married Mary Ann Pechatsko and they had four children, fifteen grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. Many of his dinner table conversations over the years were about his time in the Navy, but he most enjoyed sharing stories about his youth in the wooded hills surrounding his home-this book is about those Early Times.
