The return of Jesus to earth to establish the Kingdom of Godand to reward the faithful is basic Bible teaching and the beliefof all true Christians. The Bible gives many signs as to whenthis event might be expected and how believers can prepare forit. Some of these predictions are quite specific as to timing,others are more general indications, but combined they havegiven Bible students much encouragement and hope.With the passage of years many previously expected fulfilmentsof these predictions have proved premature or incorrect.This can lead to the feeling that even though the coming ofChrist is assured, some specific signs of his return are beyondour understanding.It is hoped that the following pages will encourage a re-examinationof the Bible teaching relating to the time of the end. It isnot our intention to be dogmatic – for prophecy is not given thatwe might be prophets ourselves – rather to make suggestionsas to how events might transpire, whilst always recognising thefallibility that is common to us all.
