He was immensely inter ested; he asked all sorts of questions; and when I chaffed him about his being so ignorant himself, he only looked foolish, and had not a word to say. Evidently Jem had not taken him into confidence. Talking dispassionately of J em, I should not say he takes many people into confidence.
