Excerpt from The Art of Writing With the Rapidity of Speech: A System of Short-Hand, Made Use of by All the Law and Parliamentary ReportersThe system to which we allude was published in 815, by james henry srs, and is entitled The Ready Writer; or, Ne Plus Ultra of short-hand. There, as far as human ingenuity is capable, every thing is rendered perfectly easy; for nothing is left unexplained, which could possibly raise a doubt, or discourage the irresolute and less diligent. That sys tem neither requires the memory to be burthened, nor the judgment to be perplexed; so that we can from experience assert, that any person who can but write the common long - hand, may learn it with the utmost facility. The rules are obvious, easy to be retained, and so perfectly distinct, that a writer may take one and reject another, at pleasure.
