The war between the Northern Alliance of Order and the Southern Hemispheric Union has left the planet a burning radioactive wasteland -- no longer can mankind live outside of their domed cities. To survive, the Alliance Supreme Commander has decreed that the selectively bred, genetically enhanced humans known as the Blessed are to venture out to find a new home. The Alliance has built the Starlight Space Ark, which will transport the Blessed to find this new world. Jaime Bordeaux had been a decorated war hero until her star fighter is shot in the last space battle over Earth. After her injury, she is transferred from the Star Patrol onto the Starlight as a low-level Captain. Her job now is to assist the Blessed along with her other fellow non-Blessed humans (known as Normals) in the achievement of their quest - to find a suitable planet to colonize. When she leaves Earth, she is a loyal, dedicated hero of the homeland. However, as they venture forth she will discover the treachery and evil aggression of the Blessed. The farther out into deep space they travel, the more the Normals and the Blessed will change. To survive, Jaime and the other Normals will have to somehow find a way to escape from the Ark of the Blessed.
