“[Harry Hurt III] tells the Hunt story skillfully, peppering his tale with juicy tidbits. . . . His book also holds a neat bit of history about the Texas oil wars of the 1920s and 1930s. —Julie Salamon,
Wall Street Journal
This book is the true story of H. L. Hunt and family. It is not an authorized biography. However, in the course of researching the book and the
Texas Monthly
and
Playboy
articles which preceded it, the author was able to interview members of all three branches of the Hunt clan, among them Nelson Bunker Hunt, William Herbert Hunt, Mrs. H. L. (Ruth) Hunt, Ray Hunt, and Hugh S. Hunt. Hurt also conducted over 250 interviews with relatives, friends, associates, avowed enemies, and present and former employees of the Hunts, and studies over 10,000 pages of court documents, film transcripts, media clippings, books, and photographs by and about the Hunts. This piece of writing is the product of that research.
