Joe Burrage is a retired Senior Chief in the United States Navy. Born in October of 1938, he is the son of James Walton and Madge Leland Burrage of Waco, Texas. Joe is also the husband of Linda Burrage and father of 6 sons. He joined the Navy in December of 1955, just 2 months after his seventeenth birthday. Throughout Joe's life, he has had many personal and professional accomplishments. His time in the Navy and service to his Country rank highest on what he is most proud of. Joe has made it his life's work to pass on the stories of his Navy career to his sons and grandchildren. He was truly able to witness history firsthand and one example is his time serving as "Chief of the Boat" for the Trieste II (DSV-1). As chief of the Boat, Joe he was part of the historic investigating of the wreckage of USS Scorpion (SSN 589). Now, at age 82, Joe can vividly remember the countless deployments and his time on numerous destroyers and submarines. He shares the stories as if they happened yesterday, while his grandchildren listen in awe.
