He is seen as a paradigmatic Sannyasi (monk) and a lord of yoga, often depicted with three heads and a bag, representing his ascetic nature. There were some requests to write a book on Sri Dattatreya Sahasnamam, detailing the meanings and inner tattvas and hence this book. Having written commentaries on Lalita Sahasranamam, Gayatri Sahasranamam, Surya Sahasranamam, Lalita Trishati, Rudra Trishati and all, now an attempt has been made to write commentary on Sri Dattatreya Sahasranamam.
