It is said of Alexander the Great, that he searched forit the world over but could not come by it. Is it then but a fiction, a mere fragment of man's imagination, a will-of-the-wisp that deludes the weary travellers on the sands of time? No, it cannot be so, for all the Sages and Seers have, with one voice, spoken of it, in no mistakeable terms, and they cannot be wrong.
Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Christ spoke to theSamaritan woman at the well of the 'living water' that came as a 'free gift of God', drinking which one could not thirst again; for 'the water that I shall give shall be a well of water springing up into everlasting life.' The Gospels abound in aphoristic sayings of this kind from the great Master who trod the shores of Galilee two thousand years ago:
If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink.
John 7:37
If a man keeps my sayings, he shall never see death.
John 8:51
These are not empty slogans, but hard facts of life depicting the stern reality in simple words of great wisdom. This Elixir is something real, something sure and certain, or else the scriptures of the world would stand condemned as false; and so, the prophets in all times and in all climes, for they offered this gift of life eternal to all those who came in contact with them. And, who, putting faith in them, accepted their words, and worked out the instructions imparted to them for developing the inner experience granted; and all of them bear ample testimony to the pool of Nectar or Amrit lying hidden in them.
With all this vast and incontrovertible evidence before us, why do most of us fail to realize the Truth? It is simply because we have never had an opportunity to dip inside, beyond and above the plane of senses. One who has found it for oneself, can help and guide others in rediscovering this fountain-of-life, which does not come to light by observation, for it lies within the innermost folds of one's own being that have, of necessity, to be unfolded by a practical process of self-analysis.
