This is a pastel fixative that utilizes milk protein and grain alcohol to provide a non toxic, fully archival fixative for pastel, charcoal, conte, watercolor, gouache and multimedia techniques. It holds and protects media without darkening or dulling colors. It can also be used under oil paintings to hold a preliminary charcoal or pencil sketching and provide a barrier between the oil paint and the drawing. It can be sprayed indoors without obnoxious odors or unhealthy fumes.The concentrate can be reconstituted with alcohol such as Everclear or vodka - it can also be used to increase the holding strength of the ready-made SpectraFix, and is also great for those who would like a formulation that contains more alcohol for evaporative reasons. The label has handy gradation lines to facilitate pouring 1/4 of the bottle into an empty spray bottle and topping off with alcohol, as an easy way of getting the standard-use ratios of concentrate to alcohol.
