The migration from Oklahoma to California is immortalized in John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath. Route 66 was the "Mother Road" to the gold at the end of the rainbow. Few realized any monetary gain from the long trip. Disappointment and despair seemed to follow them, and it would take the next decade and a world war for a recovery to happen.
This is the story of one such farming community and the families who stayed the course in Oklahoma.
The main objective was to give the members of the Space immediate family an insight as to how the previous generation grew up and the funny and sometimes catastrophic events that shaped the author as an adult.
