These are marmosets, one of the tiniest of the primates in the monkey world. They have white tufts above their ears and their fur is a marbled brown and white, dense and silky. At the end of their long tails is a brown and white stripe. They turn their heads in small jerks, and can climb trees like a squirrel, but have five digit hands and feet and perform like the monkeys they are.We read of our two young marmosets and their many adventures in their first book, Rose and Rita’s Journey. They fled their burning home in the Amazon Rainforest, traveled to Miami Beach in Florida, then on to a zoo in the mid-west of the United States, all the while looking for their missing mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and friends.
