For as long as I can remember, the truths of Reformed theology have shaped my mind, warmed my heart, and fueled my pen. The doctrines of God's sovereignty, man's depravity, Christ's sufficiency, and grace's power are more than dry concepts to me; they are the very fabric of reality, the lenses through which I see the world, and the anchors that hold me fast in life's storms. In this collection of poems, I've sought to distill the essence of these precious truths and express them in ways that engage the imagination, stir the affections, and linger in the memory. I've drawn from the deep wells of Scripture, the rich heritage of the Reformation, and the gritty realities of life to craft verses that, I pray, will make these ancient doctrines come alive in fresh ways. You'll find poems here that explore the mysteries of predestination, that marvel at the wonders of creation, that lament the depths of sin, that celebrate the glories of Christ, and that rejoice in the hope of heaven. You'll encounter verses that wrestle with suffering, that confront the idols of our age, that offer comfort to the weary, and that call for holy living in light of God's grace. My goal is not to argue or persuade, but to witness and to worship. These poems are my attempt to speak not merely about God but to God and from God. They are the overflow of a mind captivated by truth, a heart enraptured by grace, and a life transformed by the gospel. They are my humble offering to the God who is, as one Puritan put it, "an ocean of bottomless sweetness."
