This work is the result of restoration procedures carried out on the work "Rest of the Holy Family as they flee to Egypt", a painting that was deteriorating at an accelerated rate. Its support was quite fragile, but its greatest damage was the loss of information in the reading of the image, largely due to the pictorial layer that was darkened under a dirty and oxidized layer of varnish, applied in a previous intervention, probably around 1998 and 2000. There is no documentation of previous restorations, nor is there any historical data on the piece in the documentation of the Museum of the City of Rio Grande - MCRG. The work has been in the custody of the MCRG since 1986 and was badly damaged. It is believed that the painting was executed in the 18th century, due to hypotheses presented in a recent monograph, which published examinations and tests carried out on the painting. All the results of the tests and photographs are now part of the documentation of this work. In this final paper, all the restoration procedures carried out on the painting since its arrival at the UFPel Painting Laboratory will be described in detail.
