Kay Piereson's entire life had been planned out in painstaking detail-from graduating Breyer Preparatory Academy, to getting into Juilliard and becoming the greatest flute player of her generation. But that plan is ultimately destroyed when her father succumbs to illness and leaves Kay and her mother reeling from his untimely passing. Over a year later, Kay still has yet to find her new direction. Her grades are slipping and the few friendships she has left are becoming more strained by the day. She blames everyone and everything she can for her father's death, and refuses to face what really happened.
But that all changes the night she is suddenly thrust into a world of mystery and magic as she comes face to face with the terrifying Council of Three, an ancient group of aliens who warn her that the fate of the world is in her hands. Kay, with the help of a mysterious boy named Trevor, must unite three lost and powerful relics to restore the Council's ancient power and stop the impending Armageddon. But the closer they get to saving the world, the more Kay learns she must face the lingering ghosts of her past.
