This book contains the proceedings of the GIScience 2010 Doctoral Colloquium which was held in conjunction with the sixth International Conference on Geographic Information Science, GIScience 2010. The GIScience conference is a biennially event that started in 2000 with a conference in Savannah, USA. Over the last decade it has been one of the main meeting places to bring together researchers from the interdisciplinary research field of geographic information science. This year’s GIScience conference took place in September at the University of Zurich, Irchel-Campus, in Zurich, Switzerland, and for the first time only featured two separate submission tracks (full paper and extended abstract) but also this one-day doctoral colloquium with contributions exclusively by PhD students.
