They also built a fine manor, where the Worthy family settled. It tells of his contribution to all the needs of the port, which was a refuge for the many boats on the river that needed to stop for dry dock repairs. Joseph Worthy spread his wealth contracting with farmers throughout the area to grow grain crops for all the birds flying into the many ponds and lakes on this huge sanctuary.
