Aurorette "Rory" Arrington, a young woman struggling to make ends meet, has been searching for a roommate in Irvine, California, for weeks with no luck. Just when she's about to give up hope, a professional woman from London offers to pay six months' rent upfront. It seems like the perfect arrangement until Peter Ryder, the woman's brother, shows up on a moving day with news that the agreement must be canceled due to a sudden illness.
Back to square one, Rory is again facing the prospect of living on a top ramen diet until Peter offers to take his sister's place and continue the agreement. Despite her promise to only have a female roommate, Rory accepts the offer.
As these two vastly different individuals learn to coexist, Rory discovers one of Peter's secrets, only to learn later that another secret could be used to ruin her life. Rory, born out of wedlock and orphaned at a young age, grew up with her strict and old-fashioned aunt, while Peter was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and little to no responsibility. Their clashing personalities and backgrounds create a tension-filled dynamic that keeps you guessing until the end.
