A national historic landmark, the Palace of the Governors has stood on the Santa Fe Plaza since the early 17th century. It is located on the remains of the ancient Native American settlement Oga Poegeh, the ancestral home of Tesuque Pueblo, at the terminus of El Camino Real (the Royal Road) that connected Mexico City with Spain’s northernmost colony in the New World.
