Colonel Cunneely's autobiography takes you from the streets, classrooms, and playgrounds of New York City into the cockpits of the Air Force's fastest jets.
Gene Paul Cunneely Sr was a United States Air Force Command Pilot with over 5,000 hours flying some of the Air Force's fastest fighter aircraft. During the Korean War, he flew the F-86 Sabre jet with the.80th Fighter Bomber Squadron. Later, he piloted the all-weather Interceptor, the F-106 Delta Dart. In 1968, he led a flight of 18 pilots and aircrew across the Pacific to South Korea in protecting Korean airspace in the aftermath of the USS Pueblo hijacking by the North Korean military. Due to his proven excellence in the "six", Colonel Cunneely was often utilized as an instructor for many other interceptor pilots.
His second career took him to Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington where he became a successful fundraiser and a teacher. Throughout his book, Colonel Cunneely stresses the great importance of his wonderful education from Catholic schools and how it influenced every decision in his life.
