Cassandra Hayward (Amy Nostbakken) is a millennial writer who is strong of mind and spirit. Living alone in Toronto, she is informed about the death of her mother Elaine (Maev Beaty), a huge influence in her life. Elaine was a successful writer before she gave up her work to have children and never let Cass forget it. Now the planning of the funeral, eulogy, flower arrangements, and many other things need doing and Cass splits off into another person (Norah Sadava) in order to cope with the pressures, emotional turmoil, and familial relations.
