Vanity had spent most of her young life in the shadows, hiding her superpower from the world. Her parents, fearful of what might happen if her abilities were discovered, keep her on close watch. But when she turns sixteen, everything changes. Her secret is exposed, and she's sent away to a new state, far from her family and friends. Alone and struggling to adapt to her new surroundings, Vanity faces the daunting task of starting over.
In this new place, Vanity discovers a freedom she had never known. No longer needing to conceal her superpower, she begins to explore the extent of her abilities, eventually using her power for good. As she struggles to balance friend-life and hero-life, she is under the constant stress of missing her family she was forced to leave behind.
