"As a work of conceptual art, Mark Applebaum's +Metaphysics of Notation constitutes a hand-drawn pictographic score with elements including two hanging mobiles, and twelve panels that exceed 70 feet in length. Commissioned by Stanford University's Cantor Arts Center Museum, it was displayed for exactly one year; during that time, it received 45 interpretations by musicians around the globe. This package begins with a documentary on the work, There's No Sound in My Head, featuring such notables as Paul Dresher, Patience Young and Erik Ulman. The set then includes a 'Metaphysics Mix,' with condensed performances interpreting the score, by such musicians as Erik Ulman, Cobi van Tonder, Tim Feeney, Corey Fogel and Blair Foley. Also included are two scrolling versions of the score and one still version with 48 images."
