The Magic Numbers series develops children's understanding of math through fun and exciting activities that appeal to them. The syllabus progresses at a steady pace and offers various opportunities for applying and recapping different math skills. Level 1 starts at the basic fundamentals of math and develops cognitive skills and learner autonomy.
Level 1 (Student Book and Workbook in one) covers:
I- Math skills:
- Counting from 1 to 10
- Reading and Writing 1 to 10, plus sign and equal sign
- Addition up to 10
- Smaller and greater numbers up to 10
II- Cognitive skills are developed using several types of exercises such as:
- Match and circle
- Count and color
- Find and count
- Write the missing number
- Put the numbers in the correct order
- Circle the smaller/greater number
- Add and circle
- Read and write
III- Built in revision
Using an up-to-date teaching methodology, the series develops children's self evaluation and learner autonomy via two assessment pages at the end of the book.
The series is easy for parents and teachers to use. Moreover, there is a free downloadable Parents' and Teacher's Guide (URL inside the Student Book). This guide includes understanding the scope, the sequence and the methodology and offers ideas for extension activities.
While this series follows a methodical system in teaching math to children, it is not the method that appeals to them but rather the fun they have using it. The series uses enjoyable, real life activities to teach basic math skills. Enjoy!
