DeAngelo was done with men. After barely surviving a very public and extremely emotional breakup with the supposed love of his life, DeAngelo had given up on love. He thought he was damaged goods and that something was wrong with him. How else could he explain not being able to find a man willing to be faithful? He almost gave up on himself.
