originally published in 1959 was written by Kenji Tomiki, who for many years received personal instruction in Judo from the late Jigoro Kano, founder of the Kodokan Judo Hall, until the latter's death in 1938.
Mr. Tomiki specialized in Aikido and Judo throughout his martial arts career. He was the founder of the Japan Aikido Association and the competitive Aikido (Aikido kyogi) style.
