Josh,Maria and Carlos embark on an adventure midway through their annual vacation. After stumbling across a gateway, that transports them to an alternate world, they discover that their arrival had been predicted. They travel through a world filled with mythical beasts and magical people as they try to fulfill the quest set before them. The meetings with various characters instills a belief in themselves that the task being set can be done. Failure is not an option. The children being only eleven years old see the whole adventure as just that, an adventure; never really grasping the enormity of the task ahead. Never really seeing the possibility of this all ending badly, it is as if they have entered a dreamworld. Yet the losses on both sides mount up as they two sides clash in both small skirmishes and larger battles. The magical gifts the children develop during their travels help them to gain an advantage over the numerical supremacy of the forces from deep within the earth. Soldiers, demons and the unpredictable Spanish weather all seem to be against them as they push forward to deliver the grail of survival...
