When Simon Beauregard is elected leader of the Federation, he never imagines his first challenge will be leading a caravan through the dangerous Mountains of Doom and into uncharted lands beyond - to trade with a mysterious new civilization. But when the caravan is besieged by a vicious horde of Orcs on the return journey, Simon must undertake a desperate quest to raise an army and rescue the beleaguered merchants before it's too late. Joined by his loyal wolf Mystery and a ragtag band of allies, he races against time to navigate treacherous mountain passes, giant spiders, and strange floating horrors to reach the distant Orc-occupied forests. In a climactic battle on the snowy heights, Simon leads a massive force of Volscians, Arkadians and settlers against the Orc legions in a fight for survival. Victory will secure a future for the growing Federation settlements in the Valley of the Orcs. Failure means certain death for the caravan, and an end to Simon's dreams of a peaceful future with his beloved wife Elfwyn and their children. Swords and sorcery clash with wit and courage in this rousing tale of high adventure and exploration into the unknown lands of Terra Incognita. Simon Beauregard is a classic fantasy hero in the making.
