Identity theft is increasingly turning to a regular issue of concern as fraudsters discover more and more ways of getting hold of personal information required to steal someone's identity. Identity theft does not always involve taking someone's personal possessions, but stealing the victim's personal information and then using this in an unauthorized way for their own personal gain. The victim may then be implicated as part of a crime and may find it difficult to prove their innocence. Methods of identity theft advance quickly as new mediums, (for example, web-based social networking) grow rapidly, thereby making it almost impossible to completely prevent identity theft, however it is possible to reduce the likelihood of being a target by taking certain precautions. In this book the writer has explored methods used to steal identity and has prescribed how to prevent it and what actions to take if it eventually happens as well as where to get help and prevent further harm.
