Brought up by elderly relatives on a farm after his mother died when he was two weeks old, Ken became managing director of an engineering firm where he designed and built the first home elevators for disabled people in the UK.
He started helping on the farm aged seven and when he left school with little education, he became an agricultural labourer.
At twenty seven, he founded an engineering firm with his father-in-law and built it up to be a successful business until he retired.
After retirement he became a raconteur entertaining different groups, a school governor and a volunteer for a local museum, as well as a lollipop man. He also stood in for Father Christmas at many local schools!
Read his memoir and find out how he "did it his way."
