High school sweethearts Reggie and Ana think they'll be together forever, until Ana's father is transferred and she has to move away. Although they make every effort to stay in touch, time and distance find them drifting further away from one another. In college, both find new loves and new lives. Thirty years pass without them seeing one another.
When Reggie's wife dies, his sorrow consumes him. Ruth was his world, and he struggles through every day without her. A dear friend sends him on vacation, hoping a change of scenery will do him good. It is there that Reggie and Ana are reunited in a twist of fate.
