Gavin purchased the Victorian property as a promising investment and moved in with his American girlfriend, Cynthia. When their friends Sally and Raul came to stay for a few days, Gavin took them on a tour of the house. They discovered a bricked-up door behind one of the wine racks in the dimly lit cellar. Intrigued, they spent several hours working to open it.
Inside, Gavin switched on the lights, revealing a spacious, empty room illuminated by fluorescent lighting. Two large, red outer circles, surrounding a black pentagon, were inlaid in the marble floor. The dusty, stale air thickened around them as they entered the room.
