Purchase the Golden® 128oz. Gesso at Michaels. Gesso is formulated to be flexible and is highly pigmented to provide an opaque white surface that is toothy and semi-absorbent. Gesso can be mixed with acrylic colors to produce a range of colored grounds. For oil painting, a minimum of 3 coats are recommended to prevent oil from penetrating the underlying support.
