The Geologic History of Manitoba includes discussion of the regional geologic settings, the Island Lake domain, and tectonic synthesis of the Paleo-, Meso-, and Neo-archean events associated with the Superior Province. The Trans Hudson Orogen tectonic setting, closure of the Manikewan Ocean during the Snowbird Orogeny, the Reindeer and Foxe Orogenies, and associated accretions, uplifts, arcs, and interactions with the Superior Craton. Manitoba's Hudson Bay Lowlands consist of Paleozoic and Mesozoic sedimentary cover, along with a discussion of the Interior Platform sedimentary deposits. Part I ends with the Manitoba Escarpment's eastern platform depositional history including the Cenozoic Era, and the Quaternary Period glaciation of Manitoba. Part II presents the Geologic History of Saskatchewan with a discussion of the strucutral elements of the Glennie Domain, Saskatchewan Craton, Trans Hudson Geochronology, Snowbird Tectonic Zone, the Athabasca Zone and basement, and the domains of Rae, and Hearne Provinces. The Taltson Magmatic Zone is included. The Saskatchewan Plain and sedimentary sequences are presented along with depositional sequences throughout the Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Cenozoic Eras. The section ends with a discussion of the Quaternary Period record of the Southern Interior Plains.
