The intervention in the human germline in the form of genome editing not only confronts society with technical questions of realization, but also poses immeasurable normative challenges. The task of this anthology is to identify and mark these in advance and to work out their mutual interdependence. Questions like the following are addressed: What ethical risk assessments do researchers face when intervening in the human germline? Is the law able to react appropriately to germline interventions? Does intervention in the human germline undermine the concept of human dignity? And are we already on the way to constructing an 'Ubermensch'?
