For Avery Jackson, life is safe and boring despite the ragged world around him. He lives in the secluded village of Woodway and tended to a grove of Sentinel Oak trees along side his uncle. That is, until his nineteenth birthday when he is unwittingly pulled into a lethal power struggle in Lafayette, one of the Last Cities. Once inside the city walls, Avery befriends a cast of misfits and unlocks his own extraordinary powers. Follow Avery in the first installment of the Last Cities Trilogy as he navigates the complexities of a world shaped around the remains of modern civilization that was leveled more than a century ago. Forerunner is a cautionary tale of how technology can define our lives, and, at its heart, a story of self-discovery and the unique power of friendship.
