Falling Behind
In her debut poetry collection, writer Aleza Freeman explores universal themes like love, loss, longing, hope, and wonder. The poems for ages 14 to 100+ are lighthearted, relatable, thought-provoking, and quick-to-read.
Note from the author
is a poetry book about motion and emotion, about getting along, feeling stuck, running away, and seeking meaning. It's my first poetry collection, so the poems aren't exactly new. The oldest one is well over drinking age and the most recent is practically a tween.
I've held these poems hostage for the last decade, reading, re-reading, editing, and re-editing. I couldn't write anything new. I decided it was time to release my poems to the whims of their own poetry book and, guess what, I'm writing again. I guess, to grow, you must let go.
It turns out,
is also about moving forward.
